Web 3.1 Unconference Begins Now. #FREE
Follow along on #Web31 on Twitter and Substack all weekend, submit your proposed Unconference session now.
So… it begins now.
The conversation that is. Will you join us? Will you share your interests, your concerns, your projects for social good? Your solutions to real human problems? Your vision of a better world?
Now’s the time to start connecting with other participants - just search and follow the #Web31 hashtag on Twitter and elsewhere. This weekend we will be pre-releasing pre-recorded sessions with Matt Mullenweg and a few other surprises. A few snackable audiograms. And more.
What to Expect with the Unconference
After the Leadership Summit on Monday, which is now free to all Unconference participants (which could be you if you register now), we have added a Kickoff Happy Hour and Networking. Whether a nice Oolong makes you happy, or perhaps some other beverage of choice, join us on Monday evening at 5pm to ask questions in preparation for the unconference, get more clarity, and get an update on the sessions that have been proposed.
Oh yeah, and we will be networking using Twine’s awesome remote collaboration, networking, and culture building platform. In fact, go sign up for an account now in advance of the event, as we will be hosting another session using Twine at the end of the day on Tuesday as well.
In this evening session, you will get a chance to meet up to 10 or so of the other participants and speakers in 1:1 conversations. We suggest you discuss “What is the change you are trying to create in the world? how might I help?”, but what you talk about is up to you in each conversation. Just don’t be spammy, creepy, or hypey over some NFT. Get to know each other, find ways to help each other.
Then on Tuesday morning, using your submissions for topics you want to discuss, along with real time submissions in Hopin, and our discussions about co-creating the Unconference, we will build out the agenda for the day. We have multiple tracks or subconferences, subspaces, if you will. You can see the current list on our Web 3.1 Schedule Page, or check out the Web 3.1 Unconference submission form.
Wait, what?
Did I just drop the link to submit a session for the Unconference?
Yes.
Yes, I did.
So if you registered, and you want to propose a session to discuss with other participants.
Go submit your session proposal now.
Session Proposer Responsibilities
Be registered for the event.
Show up in the morning to confirm your interest and intention to be a a leader/participant.
You need not be the expert, it may just be the question.
This is not a pitch, not a presentation, and not a multilevel marketing opportunity for your shit coin.
This is a conversation with the intention of creating greater understanding, awareness, collaboration… or, well, pretty much whatever but I don’t want to hear about anyone’s shit coin. (I’m channeling DeadMau5 OH @ ETH Denver last week btw)
Show up and be a part of your session at the time it is scheduled.
We will work out the final schedule again in the morning of Tuesday March 1, 2022 at 830am PST. We will open the room around 8am, but we will start scheduling discussions at 830am.
If you can’t be there, someone else may still want to discuss the topic.
In fact, maybe several people propose similar topics. We may ask you to co-facilitate a session.
As an Unconference Session Leader:
Show up into the room 5 minutes minimum before the session time starts to make sure you are on the screen, ‘sharing your audio / video’
Point everyone to the shared Google Doc for shared note taking. Make sure someone is taking notes for the session to share what you discuss and learn.
Make a safe and inviting space for respectful dialog.
In many ways it runs like a Zoom Room, but there are only 20 people on screen at any time, so you may need to ask some people to go off screen to enable space for others.
Have fun, be kind to each other. Encourage and respect different perspectives.
If there are any issues, we will give you an email address to reach out to us the morning of the event and we will support you to the best of our ability.
So much more to discuss, but I promised my wife a date night, so off we go.
If this isn’t enough, and you aren’t ready to submit a proposal for a Web 3.1 Unconference Session yet, go ahead and check out the #Web31 hashtag on Twitter and catch some of the videos I dropped earlier today from Matt Mullenweg, Bram Cohen, and myself among many others that will be released this weekend.
