This past month has seen a surge of interest in Web 3, yet, like other revolutionary eras, many intelligent people really want to know, is this anything?
So let’s get together to discuss and debate, is this anything? what is it? what will it take to design Web3 to serve the better interests of society?
Elon Musk believes Web 3 is “seems more like a marketing buzzword than reality right now”, which is accurate, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t anything.
Jack Dorsey said “It’s ultimately a centralized entity with a different label.” which somewhat describes the current state and gets to why we are hosting the Web 3.1 Unconference on March 1.
To see if the decentralization vision being revered is possible and what will it take to get us there?
Meanwhile, Kimbal Musk is putting the core concepts into action with his Green DAO, showing what is actually possible beyond the hype.
But what is it, and is it anything? That’s what we will begin to discuss and debate on January 3, 2022 (also known as 3/1/22 to our friends around the globe). There will be 2 different sessions, recorded and shared later, but don’t just sit on the sidelines, get onto the field and join us live at either 6pm GMT, or 6pm PDT.
Join myself and other leading voices to discuss what is Web 3? What could it be? What do we want it to be? What will it take to design it in service of society?
Our discussion will start with a fireside chat with Wordpress' Matt Mullenweg. More information will be coming soon, but in short, after his "State of the Word" address recently, I really wanted to talk to him again about how we should design our future. Grateful to close out the New Year with news that this will happen Monday at 6pm PDT.
